Today saw the re-dedication of the war memorial at Sirius Academy.
The memorial has been moved from the old Pickering school into the reception area of the new academy building.
“When we first discussed the new school building, I was keen to see the memorial moved to any new school”, said Abigail, “and I am really pleased that the staff and governors of Sirius Academy have made it happen”.
Abigail and Claire attended the ceremony, which included music from Ganton and Sirius school choirs, and the re-dedication led by the Bishop of Hull.
“It was a beautiful ceremony”, said Claire. “It’s really important to remember the sacrifice of previous generations, and I am pleased that the memorial has been placed in a prominent place in the new school building.”
