GOOD NEWS FOR GOWER PARK
Councillors Claire Thomas and Abigail Bell have been collecting signatures for a petition to get improvements to Gower Park. There has been a great response from people across Boothferry Estate, and now they have more than 450 signatures on their petition.
With the help of this public support, the Lib Dem team have achieved the first success of this campaign. They have been able to get £20,000 towards the costs of improving the park.
“This is only the first step” said Claire Thomas, “we hope to be able to get more funding so that there can be a range of improvements to the park”.
Claire has also asked the Council to provide more litter bins in the park as many people have raised the problem of litter on the park. The Council are ordering the litter bins now, and they can be placed where park users think is the best place. If you have a view about where the new bins should be placed, please let us know.
Claire and Abigail will be meeting with young people who use the park early in the New Year to hear their views about what they would like to see in the park. They also want to hear your views, so let us know what you think needs to be done to improve the park.
“We have lots of volunteers who are willing to help organise events in the park and to help to get improvements to the park” said Claire, “if you want to help out too, let us know and we will let you know when we meet up to discuss what can be done.”
WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT THE HELP OF ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SIGNED THE PETITION- A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT FOR THIS CAMPAIGN
